Actor Biography
Daniel Sunjata will next star opposite Kaitlin Olson in the upcoming Drew Goddard-created ABC series, "High Potential."
Sunjata stars in Brian Yorkey's Netflix limited series "Echoes" opposite Michelle Monaghan. He previously played the role of Mecca opposite Mary J. Blige in season two of Starz' "Power Book II: Ghost," the first spinoff in the "Power" Universe, and starred in Disney's "Christmas Again" for director Andy Fickman.
Sunjata acted opposite James Marsden in the CBS All Access series "The Stand," based on the novel by Stephen King, and in a lead role in Jordan Peele's anthology series "The Twilight Zone" on CBS All Access. He also recurred on Quibi's #FreeRayshawn opposite Stephan James and Laurence Fishburne. He guest starred on an episode of Fox's "Prodigal Son" as well as on ABC's "The Company You Keep" and recurred on "Happy!" for SyFy and "Manifest" for NBC.
On television, Sunjata can previously be seen leading the USA series "Graceland" and in series regular roles on ABC's "Notorious" and FX's hit series "Rescue Me." He can also be seen playing Reggie Jackson in ESPN's miniseries "The Bronx Is Burning" for which he earned an Image Award nomination. Further television credits include recurring roles on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," NBC's "Smash" and "Law & Order: SVU," as well as guest appearances on "30 Rock," "Lie to Me," "Sex and the City" and "Law & Order."
Sunjata's film credits include notable roles in "The Dark Knight Rises," "Ghost of Girlfriends Past" and "The Devil Wears Prada."
In theater, Sunjata received a Tony® nomination for his work in Richard Greenberg's play, "Take Me Out." He was most recently seen onstage in the 2018 Broadway production of Bernard Shaw's "Saint Joan" opposite Condola Rashad. Sunjata also appeared on Broadway opposite Blythe Danner in Manhattan Theatre Club's production of "The Country House" directed by Daniel Sullivan and as Macduff in Lincoln Center's 2013 production of "Macbeth" opposite Ethan Hawke.
