Actor Biography
A native of Washington D.C., Amirah J is a born performer and competitor. She discovered her love for the stage at an early age and has since honed her craft through years of hard work and dedication. With a natural gift for acting, she has captivated audiences with her exceptional range and depth of emotion. Most recently, Amirah starred as the complex teen Katie in the award-winning short "How Not To Be a Junkie," written and directed by Andrea Metz and Michelle Peerali.
Her breakout role came in season nine of Showtime's hit series "Shameless," where she played the dynamic Xan opposite Golden Globe® winner Jeremy Allen White. In addition to her acting prowess, Amirah is also an accomplished competitive cheerleader. As a flyer on her team, she has demonstrated her remarkable physical agility and strength, and is poised to lead her team to victory at this year's nationals. Her background in hip-hop dance and competitive gymnastics has provided her with a strong foundation in athleticism, which she seamlessly incorporates into her acting performances.
Despite her busy schedule, Amirah remains grounded and connected to her roots. She is a proud member of a close-knit family and currently resides in Los Angeles with her father, a U.S. Army veteran, and her mother, a breast cancer survivor. She also has two older brothers, one a student at Washington State University and the other an expectant father in Dallas. Her family provides a constant source of support and inspiration.
When she's not on set or training for cheer, Amirah can be found spending quality time with her loved ones and her two beloved dogs.
